This past weekend my hubby and I had the rare indulgence of taking in two movies! We went to see T2 Trainspotting on Friday and I could not have been more excited. I remember the original Trainspotting from my freshman year in college (yeah I know that I am dating myself.) If you saw and loved the original movie about a group of misfit and drug addicted friends struggling with life, then you will love to catch up with most of them in this sequel. The characters, like myself, have aged 20 years and are now coming back together at last. Some have been in jail. Some have kicked drugs. Some have remained the same. There is tension between many of them, remember there was a betrayal at the end of the first movie, but these people fit together and time and distance has not changed that. This was a lovely romp of nostalgia and I give it 5/5 stars just for that! I also love seeing the original actors and this movie once again has a great soundtrack. If you liked the original Trainspotting go see this sequel!

Over the weekend we cooked our 6th burger from the Bob's Burgers Cookbook, the Do the Brussel Burger! This burger was topped with bacon and a mixture of brussel sprouts and pistachios. While still tasty, not one of the favorites of my husband or I. I don't know, it seemed like we were eating a side dish on top of our burger. Still it gets two .75 thumbs up because it pretty good. We have not had a bad burger from this cookbook yet!

Summary:
They rip, they tear, they FEED, and you never come back again.
Hereâs how last yearâs Gypsy Cob Music Festival should have gone. Lenora âLennyâ Ragno was supposed to rock her duet with her long-time crush, Jeb, during the open-mic competition. Then, swept up in the glow of success, heâd finally kiss her. Instead, Lenny choked on stage and spent the whole year dodging him online. And avoiding playing her fiddle in public. She thought her worst nightmare was behind her, but she was way wrong.
Now, sheâs back at Gypsy Cob where avoiding a public performance is about as impossible as hiding from Jeb. She thinks facing him will be the scariest part of the festival, but when one of their friends talks everyone into trying astral projection, Lenny catches the eye of a demonic entity that marks her as its own.
Now, whenever it wants, the demon can pluck Lenny from her reality and transport her to a hellish between-world, haunted by its countless, gruesome victims. If she doesnât want to become one of them, she must discover the nature of the demonâs hold on her and remove it. But how can she defeat a literal demon when she canât even get over her personal ones?
Jessica Bayliss is a fiction author who loves all things reading and writing. Her genre-bending fiction holds a little something for everyone. A lover of ghost tales and horror since her days scanning VHS rental shelvesâadmittedly with eyes half-averted from the gory coversâa touch of the mysterious always finds a home in Jessicaâs work. Romance with a dash of supernatural. Horror with a bit of humor. You get the gist. Jessica also writes across age groups and is a firm believer in the motto, there is a new reader born every day, whether young or not-so-young. Because one cannot live on writing alone, Jessica also spends a great deal of time with friends and family. She is a lover of all animals especially one very special Havanese and one extremely ornery cockatiel. She also loves to eat, cook, and exerciseâin that orderâand is a firm believer that coffee makes the world a better place. Jessica also has stories in several of Leap Books anthologies: Beware the Little White Rabbit and Fright Before Christmas.

Link: http://a.co/1zRWBWe Another week, another burger from the Bob's Burgers Cookbook! This is the Poblano Picasso Burger. Poblano peppers, onion, tomatillas, jalapeno mix on top of a burger with Monterrey jack cheese. A bit messy to assemble and eat, but pretty darn delicious! This burger got two thumbs up from both my husband and I! One of our faves so far!
So this year with the day job and the writing job taking up a lot of my time has meant that art has taken a backseat. Then recently I got an email from a charity that I support asking for t-shirt designs and I figured what the heck! So I entered this cute little design for Heifer International. I doubt I get picked, but hey at least I did some art and took a chance. You can learn more information and support Heifer International here: https://www.heifer.org/
So if anyone of you know me and follow this blog, you know that I love to read and I will read anything and everything. That includes YA books and I recently just finished a 6 book YA Fantasy series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. It is a series that mixes a lot of mythology from all over the world, combining myths and legends to form a modern day mythos of the world. I did like that he explained all the mythologies mixing together by saying all the gods of the world originally all came from the same place (think of a very large and advanced Atlantis). As someone who loves mythology and mixes it into her own writing, I really liked some of the concepts of these novels, however the execution did seem awkward and rushed in some places. Still these were fun and fast reads, something light to read when the harsh news of the world is getting you down. I would give the series a 3.5 star rating.
