The hubby and I are still cooking our way through the Bob's Burgers Burger Cookbook. This week we cooked the Totally Radish Burger. We were both a little worried about this burger. It called for creme fresh (which I don't like), radishes (which the hubby doesn't like), dill, and cucumbers. I did doctor it up a little with natural sweetner and lemon juice, deviating from the recipe a little, but the end result was pretty yummy! This burger gets 1.75 thumbs up! Small deduction because I had to add a little to the recipe to make both me and the hubby happy.

Not too long ago I gave a movie review for the movie Lion, based on a true story. Well I loved the movie so much that I had to go buy the book on which the story was based. A Long Way Home is the story of how Saroo Brierley became a lost boy in India only to later be adopted by Australian parents and then to finally find his birth family decades later. It is a story of perseverance and hope. It is such a remarkable story that it could almost be a work of fiction, but it is all true. It's simply written, but none the less very moving. I did not cry while reading it (like I did at the end of the movie) but it was still a very touching tale that is well worth the read. In this world full of negativity this is a positive and hopeful book. I give it 5/5 stars just for the emotional impact of the story alone! Go read it.
Link: http://a.co/5ox0oEX As my husband and I continue to cook our way through the Bob's Burgers Cookbook, we just made the A Good Manchego is Hard to Find Burger this weekend. It required manchego cheese, fig jam, and caramelized shallots. I thought that it was pretty darn tasty, but my husband thought that the shallots combined with the fig jam made the burger a little too sweet. So this burger gets 1.75 thumbs up! And as a side note, the cheese and fig jam were a bit more expensive than other ingredients so far, which makes me understand why Bob is always short on rent. He only charges 5.95 for these burgers and the manchego cheese for two burgers was $8. Just saying. But it sure tasted good and of course for us is cheaper and more fun than eating out.
Finally getting another movie review up! This past weekend my husband and I went to see the animated French film, My Life as a Zucchini. This was a quirky little movie that has a rather sad premise (children in a group home) but ends up giving you all the feels and leaves you on an uplifting note. The animation is great, I love how the characters look, especially their eyes; and the story is sad, fun, and real all at the same time. My only regret is that we did not get to see the film in it's original French, I feel that the story might have flowed a little bit better, but it was still a great movie despite anything that might be left in translation. If love slightly oddball movies about underdogs, I highly suggest this one!

Link: http://tinyurl.com/zekjutd While book shopping over the weekend I came across some grab bags that left the books inside as a surprise. Four books for $4?! You know I had to buy some! I chose death, power and destruction! Should be a lot of fun!! I will report back when I get the chance to read these mystery books! Who else buys these grab bags just for the thrill of finding new books and authors?! It can't just be me!
Last night I cooked the second burger from the Bob's Burgers Burger Book, the Eggers Can't Be Cheesers Burger! This was a departure from usual burgers I normally cook. Eggs on top of my cheese burger and served on English muffins. At first I was skeptical about the English muffins, but all I have to say is that for the second time Bob's Burgers did not let me down! Yum! Another two thumbs up from the husband and I! Looking forward to eating more interesting burgers as the weeks go on.
As I prepare to start edits for Earning Forgiveness, Gods Behaving Badly Book 6, I thought that I would give a little treat to my readers by offering the book that started it all, Looted, for free this weekend only! Grab a copy March 18-19!

Jesus Reyes looked up from his bed, his eyes thin slits. “I guess I was lucky. Doc says the knife just missed killin’ me. Said an inch more to the left and I’d been dead, coulda’ punctured my kidney or somethin’.” “I’m sorry, Jesus. I didn’t know the DA’s office would throw you back into general population. Did you get a look at the man that stabbed you?” He shook his head. “No, the pendejo stabbed me from behind and then disappeared in the crowd.” “I’m going to make sure you stay in here until I have enough for a conviction against Diaz.” “Lady, you’re fuckin’ crazy. You ain’t gonna get nothin’ on Diaz, and even if you do, jeffe is gonna make sure he don’t talk.” Kelli leaned in close and looked into his eyes. “Jesus, you keep saying jeffe. Who is this jeffe? What’s his name?” Jesus took a labored breath and looked at her. “I don’t know his name, but he’s supposed to be the head of some drug cartel out of Colombia. All I know is that Diaz and the rest of the Trinitarios kiss his ass, includin’ me.” He closed his eyes and turned his head. “The motherfucker’s gonna make sure I’m dead, too.” “He’s not going to get to you in here, Jesus.” “Yeah, maybe, but I gotta leave here sometime. I gotta go back to the street and then the motherfucker is gonna get me. You can’t protect me, ain’t nobody can protect me on the street.” Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. Kelli put a hand on his arm. “He’s not going to get the chance, Jesus, because I’m going to put the son of a bitch away. And maybe I can talk to someone about getting you into witness protection.” He cocked his head to one side as he looked up at her. “Huh? How you gonna put someone like that away? You don’t even know this fucker’s name. Shit, I’m fuckin’ dead, lady, and you go messin’ around with people like that, you’ll be dead too. Cop or no cop.” “Then I guess I’ll have to kill him first.” So over the weekend I went book shopping (one of my favorite things) and I happened upon this lovely Bob's Burgers Cookbook. So guess who will be cooking her way through this book the rest of the year? And blogging about it? To make it easy to keep track of, I am just cooking the burgers in the order of them in the book. That means last night I cooked the New Bacon-ings Burger. This is a pretty straight forward cheddar cheese and bacon burger. Yum! My husband and I both give it two enthusiastic thumbs up!
