Renee Mccleary rated it it was amazing
This is my favorite out of the Thin Red Lines Series! Even though it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I loved Hunter and Desiree! This book is suspenseful, funny, heartbreaking and beautiful!! The story kept me pulled in reading as fast as I could, I had to know what was going to happen!! I loved the twists and turns! There are parts in there that had me saying "What in the world just happened?" Hunter and Desiree had amazing chemistry and I loved the banter between them! I hope everyone gets to find thier hero like Desiree does. If you are looking for a romantic thriller with some laughs I highly recommend this book.
You can find Genevieve curled up reading paranormal romance and romantic thrillers, or frantically typing her stories on her laptop.
Psychology is her trade by day, teaching and molding the minds of college students. Her interest in psychology can be seen in her books, each including many psychological undertones. Although she loves teaching, her passion, her true love, lies in the stories that roam around in her head. Yes, they all come from her mind-the good, the bad, and the totally insane.
She lives in Massachusetts-no, not Boston-with her husband, daughter, and American Eskimo dog. With each story, she shares, she hopes her love for writing and storytelling seeps through, encompassing the reader and leaving them wanting more.

Finally getting back into some book reviews here on my blog. I just finished reading Nos4a2 by Joe Hill and I really liked the book. This is the fourth book of Joe Hill's that I have read and I must say that he is now one of my favorite authors. That kid might be going somewhere. LOL
Nos4a2 just might be my favorite Joe Hill book. It is full of horrors, from real life and beyond. Vic, the heroine in this piece, is tragically flawed and makes me feel for her as if I personally knew her. Nothing is completely black and white in this story, everyone had both good and bad in them and that makes it a very compelling read. I highly recommend this book. 5/5 stars from me! Go read it!
Today I am happy to welcome author D.F. Krieger here to the blog! She has a super sexy new release coming out in a couple of weeks and is here to tease and tantalize us a little. Warning, the excerpt is 18+, but hey if you have read some of my stories you will be okay.

I froze and I could swear that my heart stopped beating for a moment at the sound of my name. When I finally found the courage to turn and face her, she took my breath away in a new way. The fading sunlight slanting into the doorway of the barn highlighted her hair in a burnished halo. My own personal angel.
I swallowed, chasing away the sandy coating that enveloped my tongue and throat. "Yes?"
She reached out and her fingertips brushed my cheek in a tender caress. "Are you scared? You've seemed...withdrawn since I said I wanted a scene. If you aren't ready yet."
Her question and everything she left unsaid hung in the air between us. I weighed my emotions as I chewed on my lip in contemplation.
"I'd like to try," I finally answered. "But what if I get to scared, or go into one of those waking nightmares?"
The serious expression in her eyes helped reassure me that she took my fears seriously. "Easy enough. That's what a safe word is for."
"Safe word? But those are a joke." I gave a soft snort. "Why bother if all it gets me is told I am a big baby?"
Mistress sighed while shaking her head. "If I didn't already hate Bryce, I would now. What a jack ass."
I stared at her in shock. Hate sounded like such a strong description of emotion coming from her. I had a feeling the word didn't cross her lips often. "Why do you hate him?"
Her eyes went wide and she opened her mouth, then shut it for a moment. "I...knew him...through my husband. Let's just say he's always been an asshole."
It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out she was hiding something. I couldn’t find it in my heart to press her, try as I might. Curiosity weighed heavy in my chest, as well as a keen sense of betrayal that didn’t make sense.
She knew him all along. Probably had sex with him at some point. Bryce is into that. Charlie probably was too.
“Come back to me. I don’t know what’s goin’ on in that head of yours, but I have a pretty good idea. Whatever you’re thinkin’ is probably wrong. I won’t ask much of you in the way of blind trust, but on this I do. Please?” The heart-wrenching sadness that crept in her voice pulled at me, making me emotionally double back.
Come on, Teresa. More than likely, if she hates Bryce, because he hurt her the same way he hurt you. Can you blame her for that?
No. I couldn’t. If anything, I admired her strength to put herself back together. I’d only been out of his clutches—what, a week?—and still felt like I’d never be able to glue myself back together. He not only broke me, he tore apart the very core of who I was and recomposed it to his liking. A part of me feared I’d always be a creature of his making. Never myself again.
But here, now, a woman stood in front of me offering her hand. Offering a whole new life. Offering the ticket to teach me how to be myself…or at least a new invention of myself. All I had to do was trust her and serve her. The two things in the world that terrified me the most.
“Faith,” I said on a mere whisper.
She tilted her head and studied me. “Faith?”
“Can that be my safe word?” I swallowed hard, hoping to calm the butterflies in my stomach. It seemed they’d taken up permanent residence considering how much I experienced them in the past few days.
“Of course it can,” she responded with that beaming smile of hers. That one that said, with her, everything would be right in the world.
If you have read some of my book reviews before, you know that I do love YA series in addition to all the other genres that I read. Recently I just completed the Miss Peregrines Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs. This is a very interesting series. I love how the author finds real life old and peculiar photographs and then creates characters and scenes from them. The fist two books in the series are fast paced and leave you wanting more and I loved both of them. The third and final book in the series Library of Souls, was a little slower and dragged in a few places, though it does end the series in a very satisfactory manner. Over all I give the whole series 4/5 stars, all three books are definitely worth a read for their uniqueness.
As I am a big fan of author Dawn Brower, I am not sure why it took me so long to start her Linked Across Time Series. Saved by my Blackguard is the first book in the series and after finishing it I can only say I am glad there are already more books in the series for me to read!
Paul is an overworked man in the 1980s when his doctor insisted he go on vacation for his health. Little did he know that a storm would somehow take him to another time and into the arms of a beautiful from another time. Evelyn is shipwrecked from the same storm. Forced together from circumstances, they find what each of them has been missing in life in each other. This is a fun and fast paced story, that shows love can flourish even in the strangest of circumstances. I give it 5/5 stars and look forward to the series.
Not too long ago I gave a movie review for the movie Lion, based on a true story. Well I loved the movie so much that I had to go buy the book on which the story was based. A Long Way Home is the story of how Saroo Brierley became a lost boy in India only to later be adopted by Australian parents and then to finally find his birth family decades later. It is a story of perseverance and hope. It is such a remarkable story that it could almost be a work of fiction, but it is all true. It's simply written, but none the less very moving. I did not cry while reading it (like I did at the end of the movie) but it was still a very touching tale that is well worth the read. In this world full of negativity this is a positive and hopeful book. I give it 5/5 stars just for the emotional impact of the story alone! Go read it.
While book shopping over the weekend I came across some grab bags that left the books inside as a surprise. Four books for $4?! You know I had to buy some! I chose death, power and destruction! Should be a lot of fun!! I will report back when I get the chance to read these mystery books! Who else buys these grab bags just for the thrill of finding new books and authors?! It can't just be me!
I have been dealing with a lot lately, from health issues and learning my new normal after my hysterectomy (hormones anyone?), to our car being broken into and made undrivable, to seeing less of my husband, and medical and car bills causing a lot of stress. This all has set off my anxiety and depression into overdrive. My mind is in a constant stage of stress.
So my main struggle of late has been to control the stress and to try to get out of this funk. I am looking for a part time job to ease some financial woes. I am trying to get back into meditation daily to deal with the anxiety and depression. And I am also spending a lot of time reading. I am escaping into worlds of fiction to allow me to deal with the real world. Sure, I could do this by writing as well, but writing has not been going too well lately. I am stuck. I can't seem to finish anything. Stress has my writing blocked, so reading is where my escapism is at the moment.
This means that I will be posting a lot of reviews, from indie authors and mainstream authors as well. It gives me a chance to share books and writing, even if they aren't my books and writing. Though I have some rather new books and a couple Christmas themed shorts that I might be sharing with all of you this month. So keep looking for book reviews and feel free to give me suggestions on to what I should add to me To Read list.
