::Waves to everyone:: Hi! Sheri has been positively amazing to me this past year and a half, helping me keep the writing dream alive as I deal with post divorce and so many other things. I hope you all are buying her books and giving her some review love. Her writing is fun and quick, and she is always looking to improve her craft. She has graciously been sharing my wide and varied books with you. Today, we’re doing my steampunk line. I only have a few at this time, and that’s because they are my “just for fun” line. I pretty much write what I want, but this is probably my favorite because I can integrate my love for Victorian and gadgets and really have some play on it. As always, the books have an underlying theme of justice. That is my true branding. Not genre, not lawful. But justice…just not always in the traditional sense. Unfortunately, I have to spend the bulk of my time on the series that make the most money, so some of my more fun genres like steampunk romance have to take a back seat. But I still write them. I write what I read…which is everything! I love to read. I’ve loved it since I was about 10 years old, newly adopted, and my new aunt handed me The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and I managed to get my grubby, pre-teen hands on my new mom’s Agatha Christie. Is it any wonder that with that mash up to start my reading journey that I don’t stick to one sort of writing? What are some of your favorite genre mashups? For me, mystery/suspense/thriller with just about any other genre has my thumbs up! This weekend will be hard for many people for many reasons. With coming out of COVID just starting to be a thing, we’re all going to be a little bit raw emotionally. Everyone be safe out there and enjoy at least one good book this weekend! Penny Wise is tired of having her every move monitored by the king and queen and their guards, especially when there was only one who turned all her knobs. Hey everyone! As promised I am back to blogging weekly and this week I am super excited to have fellow indie author D. F. Krieger here with her very steamy new release Eden's Garden! My transient lifestyle as a government contractor makes it hard to have permanent relationships, especially when I prefer to spice my life up with BDSM. When my life-long friend, Rhett, introduces me to the local group, they welcome me with open arms...and a handful of women looking for a partner. There's shy Wynn, sassy Maya, Cami the Kitten, and playful Denisha. You can grab a copy for yourself here: Buy Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082ZQ5SSJ Available on KU And now a little excerpt for your enjoyment! I eyed the dark-haired beauty with the angular features and pegged her instantly as a Brat while she continued to pop her chewing gum in rapid fire succession. She’d be a handful to tame, and the thought of it thrilled me. She blew bubbles and snapped them with far too much enthusiasm, and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt she awaited rejection. To be the last pick of the team. They all did. The air of dejection that surrounded these women stirred a deep, unknown emotion in me. A fierce desire to protect them, to show them the acceptance they craved, rose up with a startling surge. “I know this is a little odd,” Abe said as he slipped an arm around his wife’s waist. “But you’ve all come to me asking for help, and doing things different might be the solution.” The girl with the gum blew another bubble and popped it. The sound ricocheted through the room like a gunshot, and a woman with soft blonde hair tipped in pink who sat at the end of the table with her gaze on the floor winced. “Sorry, Wynny,” the gum girl said, and her tone implied a genuine apology. “S’okay,” the blonde responded in a whisper. Abe cleared his throat. “Why don’t we run through intros? Eden, would you mind getting us started?” I smiled at him, and kept that smile as I swept my gaze across the four women in front of me. “Hello, ladies. I’m Eden. I’m down here from DC for a twelve-month work contract, and I’m hoping to find a play partner. I’m very flexible on what I like, and have been in the life for years. I am a Domme, but I promise I’m not an aggressive dominant. If you need references, there are several people in the group who know me from DC. Anything else, just ask.” A heavy pause hung in the air, and I could feel them studying me. Weighing me to see my worth in their own heads. I gave them that time, sensing they needed it. Somehow, I held a sneaky suspicion these women were single for reasons beyond their kinks. Each one stood out as a bit of an oddity, which didn’t necessarily mean a bad thing. “I’m Denisha.” The pink-haired girl I saw Boi coloring with earlier stuck out her hand, and I shook it without hesitation. Her warm, brown skin felt like silk against my palm. “I’ve only been around ‘bout a year. I’m a Little, and um…I guess that’s that.” “Pleasure to meet you, Denisha.” I gave her an encouraging nod and shifted my attention to a quiet, auburn haired, petite woman next to her. “Is it my turn?” she asked, glancing at me. “My name’s Cami. I… I like…” She stared at her lap as her cheeks turned an adorable shade of red. “I like to meow and stuff or be a maid. I work at a shelter, and I really want a Mistress who will pet me.” Pet play as a cat? Adorable! “Hello, Cami. Nice to meet you.” I turned my attention to the dark-haired Brat. Gum girl snorted at Cami and rolled her eyes. “Maya. Tease me, beat me, if you wanna teach me,” she sing-songed, and I recognized the underlying jingle from a kid’s show popular in my youth. Oh, pretty girl. Do you even realize you are a Brat? “Hi, Maya. A pleasure.” That left one more person to introduce herself. The timid blonde nearly hugged her knees. Her gaze never left the floor. If I’d labeled Cami as shy, this girl could be the epitome of agoraphobic. Maya gave her a gentle nudge and the girl started, as if the physical contact shocked her. “I’m… I’m….” “This is Wynny,” Maya supplied. From the way the blonde shot her a grateful look, I gathered Maya stepped in for her a lot. “She likes stuff like wax, feathers; that sort of thing. Isn’t that right?” Wynny’s silent nod confirmed this. They were all going to require the extent of my skills as a dominant in their own ways. The terrified blonde would need the most help learning to let go and enjoy herself, without a doubt. But all of them presented their own unique sets of challenges…and rewards. “So, is this going to be like eenie meenie miney moe?” Maya asked. I couldn’t let her get away with that snarkiness and establish dominance. If I did, it meant working double-time to earn her respect later. Easier to nip it before she managed a foothold to stand her cocky ass on. “No, darling,” I said as I clasped my hands and rested them on the table. “This isn’t a school game where I pick the most popular or prettiest. If any of you want to give this a shot, we’ll set up dates and see how compatible we are in a one-on-one environment.” “Any of us?” Denisha asked, her voice filled with surprise. “Absolutely.” That got their attention. They stared at me with varying expressions of shock. “You do realize we’re the group rejects, right? The unwanted fuck ups. Why do ya want saddled with us?” Maya demanded. Elle shifted, her body language turning nervous, and I noticed Abe give her arm a soft, reassuring squeeze from the corner of my eye. He watched me carefully, and I knew this moment could make or break my reputation and acceptance in this group. “You’re not fuck ups,” I said, keeping my voice neutral. “You are all beautiful women with a unique set of challenges that I’m excited to conquer with you. All that remains between us and that, is whether you’ll give me a chance to show you what you can achieve.” Today I want to welcome one awesome author and supportive friend, Torie James! She has a steamy new release out tomorrow and I wanted to take a moment to share it with you! Just in time to spice up your Valentine's Day! Book One: We Wear The Mask

Amara’s move home is anything but fun: with her mom recovering from a cancer diagnosis, her only goal is to find a job in her field and support her family. For Travis, there’s only ever been one rule: stay away from his best friend’s sister. And it wasn’t a problem until Amara moved back west all grown-up and sexier than sin. When she comes strutting around his gym every day, it’s impossible to keep his eyes—and hands—off her. The one-off fling Amara imagined isn’t possible with a God like Holt. And once Eddie finds out, they’re suddenly cast into the turbulent waters of Something More, the unfamiliar terrain where Amara has to confront whether she can truly support someone whose career is the antithesis of everything she’s worked for in the non-profit world. His towel. Downstairs, slung over the back of the chair in his bedroom. Fuck. He needed it, and he should go back for it. But Amara was there. Alone. Naked, probably. And just as gorgeous as ever. Maybe he should abandon the towel. Pretend like he didn’t care, didn’t need it. He pushed the elevator’s Down button. Definitely needed the towel. As the elevator descended, he gnawed the inside of his lip. She was probably changed by now. How long did it take someone to get into a bathing suit? Seconds, these days. Besides, what did he care about Amara’s naked body? Nope, that didn’t help things. Guilt roiled around inside him. He couldn’t have these feelings for Eddie’s sister, even if they were strictly physical. He needed to act like—and believe—she was no different than any other girl. The doors slid open, and he hurried toward his door, fumbling with his key in the lock. It opened with a quiet whoosh, and he stumbled toward his bedroom. He rapped his knuckles against it. “Hey, you in there?” Turning the knob, he pushed on the door. No response. Pushing farther, he let the door swing open a little. He peered inside, eyes adjusting to the low lighting of the bedroom. Amara’s full, naked backside greeted him, all curves and roundness, gorgeous lines and sweet caramel. His jaw dropped. She looked over her shoulder at him, the fuck-me eyes back out to play. He pulled the door shut, heart pounding. Leaning his forehead against the door frame, he gripped the door handle so hard, his arm shook. Don’t go in there, don’t go in there, don’t you fucking dare go in there. “Sorry, Amara.” He struggled to make his voice clear. “I thought you were done. Forgot my towel.” “It’s okay.” Her voice came out muffled through the door. “Like you haven’t seen a naked body before.” He drew a low, shaky breath. True, he had seen plenty of naked bodies before. None that he’d wanted to ravage as much as hers in recent times, though. The handle turned, and the door swung open. He didn’t move—couldn’t move—from where he leaned. The glimpse of her nakedness had stolen his strength. He was useless now. Amara looked at him, grinning mischievously. “I’m almost ready.” She gathered her hair to one side, looking him up and down. Heart still pounding, his gaze careened over the soft arc of her hip as it transitioned from thigh to waist. He knew what she was hinting at. He could taste it like a shark near blood. He’d eat her up—all of her. From head to toe. He gulped. But she’s off-limits. “That’s a pretty fancy bathing suit.” He sauntered past her, struggling to keep his eyes off her as he walked past. “Don’t you like it?” She stuck out a hip. He allowed himself to look her up and down again. It was a one-piece with most of the center cut out. It had only a strip of fabric connecting the breastbone to the pelvic area, which meant it highlighted unnaturally the hourglass curve of her body. “It’s nice.” He meant to continue to the chair where his towel lay draped, but his feet wouldn’t take him away from her. He gritted his teeth, unable to keep the beast of desire at bay any longer. “Oh, that’s your only opinion? Just ‘nice’?” She lifted a brow. “You look sexy as fuck, Amara.” His voice came out low. She grinned, pulling her hair into a small bun. He reached for her hand, stilling her. “Leave your hair down.” She did as he said, blinking up at him with a sexy type of honesty, as if she waited for him to lead the way. He dragged his fingers down the side of her arm. “Be careful with this.” His hand smoothed over the curve of her exposed hip, and her breath hitched. He cinched her body to his, vision going spotty for the briefest of seconds. “It’s powerful.” She laughed a little, but it faded fast. She danced her fingertips up the sides of his arms, making his cock twitch. “So are these.” She trailed her hands over the arcs of his biceps, the heat of her breath against his chin. He brought both arms around her, making his muscles bulge; she fit like a puzzle piece. He hovered his lips over her forehead, desperate for contact but liking the prickling tension of withholding just a little bit longer. He pushed his hands over her hips. “Can I test out the suit?” She nodded. “We better make sure it passes muster.” He drew a ragged breath as he palmed the taut melons of her ass cheeks. He pressed her into him, rocking his hips in a lazy circle. She had to feel his cock by now. “Pretty nice.” His voice came out almost a growl, and he dipped his head to nuzzle the sweet hollow of her neck. She inhaled sharply, just as he sensed the front door opening. He stilled. The front door opened and then shut. He swore and dropped his hands. She cleared her throat, stepping away from him, reaching for the pile of clothes discarded on the bed. “Holt, where you at?” It was Lex. “Dude, we need the ice.” Travis rubbed his face, trying to efface the lingering memory of Amara’s perfect ass cheeks singeing his palms. “I’m coming.” Amara arched a brow. Travis opened his mouth to say something, but had no idea what. Sorry, you’re too fucking hot? He headed out into the kitchen, where Lex pulled a bag of ice out of the freezer. “Starting with Jack,” he said, as though this explained everything. He followed Lex out of the apartment, Amara’s scent still whispering through him. They boarded the elevator, and the spell broke. This was turning out to be the delicious nightmare he’d envisioned—denying the simple urges he felt for Amara while in front of her overprotective brother, almost overruled by carnal desires at every turn. She was too hot. And she felt too damn good in his arms. This was a lot of trouble already. A couple weekends ago I was lucky enough to spend some time at Bubonicon, which is a fantasy and sci-fi based literary convention held every year in my hometown of Albuquerque. Now I had to work most of the weekend and didn't get to attend as many panels and talks as I would have liked, but it still did this author's heart good to be around so many authors and readers. I will be writing about some of the things that got me thinking from the con this coming week. I also had to opportunity to buy some books from some local authors, more books than I should have, but what can I say? I love books and love supporting local authors. I am thinking that if I have more fantasy and sci-fi books out next year that I really need to get a table and see how things go there. Anyways, here is the swag that I managed to pick up. Like I said I do love me some books.
So as many of you already know I have been dabbling in writing some non-romance stories of late. Sure, I am known as being a romance author, of varying heat levels and sub-genres, and I am going to keep writing romance so don't worry. As a matter of a fact I will soon have a Christmas romance off to my publisher and I am working on the sequel to Quest for Redemption and the next Gods Behaving Badly book, so steamy romance is on its way! However I love to write in all sorts of genres and that's why I am going to start using S.L. Velarde for all non-romance releases, just to keep things easy for my readers to know what is romance and what is not. S.L. will be the name on horror, hard fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery books and stories that I have in the works. Sheri will still be the name on anything romance! Pretty easy right? I hope that all of my readers will give both romance and the other genres a chance, but now you will know what you are getting before you pick up my next book!
Today I am happy to share the cover reveal for my upcoming Atlantis story, The Discovery of a Lifetime! It is a mix of romance, sci-fi, and a touch of steampunk. I made the cover myself and must say that I am pretty darn happy with it! Atlantis is a myth that will not die, it has been told in several forms with each different and interesting in its own right. Why not take romance below the sea into a fantasy world full of wonder and maybe even love? Karina is the laughing stock of the archaeology world. Despite the naysayers she knows in her heart that she’s right, Atlantis is real and she will find it. With a mysterious backer and state of the art technology, she finds her heart’s desire and then some. Atlantis is not so lost after all, and their prince seems to only have eyes for her. |
