Here is an exclusive excerpt. Over a month had passed since Tianna had arrived in Port Stone, more time than she had ever intended to spend in the city. Yet here she was, living in a small home with a human warrior, her one friend in the city, Kara. If not for the cleric in her life she thought she would have gone insane already. Well and Kara was not her only friend. Tianna looked over at the small rat whom she had adopted as her familiar in the city. Little Ara had proved to be the most effective friend and spy in such a place. No one noticed one lone rat running around in all the filth of the slums, and her small size meant she went unnoticed even in the rich parts of town, sticking to the shadows and hiding amongst the trash of the city. Ara could get into places and report what she heard more effectively than any other creature could. She had provided Tianna and Kara much information in their short stay in Port Stone. More than they would have discovered on their own. Tianna looked back down at the piece of paper in her hand, but even loyal Ara couldn’t help her figure this out. She wished Kara would return home and open the letter waiting for her. Tianna wanted to compare their messages, see if Kara had been told more than she had by the leader of her Druid Order, Shea. Her frustration grew as she read the letter once again. Tianna, I cannot tell you how saddened I am to hear of Phinelope’s passing. You have done me proud by avenging her death. I am glad you have stayed in Port Stone and have already connected with Delmar. I need you to stay in the city awhile longer. You need to continue the work Phinelope started. Speak with Delmar again for he knows the plan. I will return to Port Stone as soon as I can, and then we can discuss everything in person. In the meantime, keep an eye out for those who might want to do you harm. Shea Crumbling the paper Tianna threw it across the small kitchen in a fit of anger, just in time to narrowly miss hitting the returning Kara in the head. “I just arrived, so I can’t be the reason for your bad mood. What happened?” Kara asked as she picked up Shea’s note and returned it to the table. She then unhooked and set her war hammer down in the corner by the door, near Tianna’s own bow and arrows and assorted swords both women had picked up of late. “We received letters from our respective Orders. Shea basically told me nothing other than to trust Delmar. The problem is that I don’t trust that man! Shea gave no other information on him, no reason to trust him. She says she will come when she can, but gives me no time table. The whole letter is pointless and frustrating to read.” Tianna huffed. “You have a letter as well. Let’s see if your Cleric Order gave you more information.”
