Today I am so happy to have fellow indie author Samantha Allard here with her brand new release, Heartless A Guild Story! I am in love with this cover and can't wait to read it myself! Be sure to grab a copy today! A Killer Stalks the Streets. Simone LeBeau is fearless. A messenger for the Hermes Guild, she travels via the rooftops delivering letters and parcels with the grace of a freed bird. A guardian to a small, orphaned girl. The constant cause of concern to a former messenger with mechanic legs. Simone does what she must do to survive in a world where the citizens of Dark Town are being murdered by a killer called the Heart Thief. Then she is caught up in a situation she can't control. The Heart Thief murders a woman a few feet from Simone's front door. No-one else seems interesting in finding justice for her or any of the other victims. But what happens when the killer turns his attention to someone close to Simone? After she was satisfied, she drew up the black fabric, which was her mask, until it covered the lower half of her face. It was ill advised to constantly breathe the air at this level. The factories pumped out toxic fumes that could prove to be fatal due to prolonged exposure. With one final glance at her surroundings, she started off at a run. She wasn't the only one traversing the rooftop that morning; the messengers were after all the surest way of getting letters and parcels around the city. The members of the guilds ranged into the hundreds. Simone caught sight of people jumping from foothold to foothold, rolling and twisting in the air like leaves caught in the wind. A few of them travelled via the streets but that cost them speed and tips. The first parcel that she needed to deliver was to the Athena Guild of Study. It was a good hour to walk from one side of the city to the next. Travelling across the rooftops was a different story. As Simone's feet touched the edge of the building, she jumped. The wind wrapped around her, holding her like a cocoon as she twisted. She flipped her legs over her body, letting it pull her the rest of the way. She loved the way the wind caressed her face, the freedom that came with the danger that made her heartbeat that much faster in her chest. Simone landed on the next rooftop with a grace born out of years of being in the business. The contact jarred her slightly, but it wasn't anything she wasn't use too. She kept her momentum going. Some jumps were small, and others held more than a little element of risk. There weren't many requirements to be a part of the Hermes Guild, but a messenger had to have a certain level of fearlessness. They couldn't worry about falling or hurting themselves. As soon as doubt found a way into their hearts, a messenger became useless.
